Women's Basketball Announces the Signing of Anna Heise

University of Maine women’s basketball head coach Richard Barron has announced that Anna Heise has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Maine and join the women’s basketball team beginning in the fall of 2012.

Trio of Black Bears to Compete in NCAA East Preliminary

Three University of Maine track and field standouts have qualified to compete in the NCAA East Preliminary round which takes place on May 24-26 at the University of North Florida, as announced by the NCAA this weekend. Corey Conner (Townsend, Mass.) will compete in the 5000 meter run while Robyn McFetters (Barrington, R.I.) will compete in the hammer throw. Justin Gagne (Biddeford, Maine) will represent the men's side in the discus throw.

Bickford, Sullivan Named to 2012 Academic All-District First Team

University of Maine swimmer Robbie Bickford (Milford, Maine) and men's ice hockey standout Dan Sullivan (York, Pa.) have been named to the Capital One 2012 Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team. Both will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. Both student-athletes are sophomores.

Baseball Ends Regular Season at Home to Stony Brook

The University of Maine baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond. The Black Bears fell in the first game 7-2 and dropped the second game 10-9. Maine falls to 26-26 on the season with the losses and 11-11 in America East play. Stony Brook improves to 43-11 overall, 21-3 in conference play.

The University of Maine baseball team hosts Stony Brook this weekend to close the 2012 regular season. The Black Bears enter play with a record of 26-22 overall, 11-7 in America East play. Stony Brook is 39-11 overall, 17-3 in league play.

The Black Bears fell in the first game 5-1 and dropped the nightcap 5-4. Maine falls to 26-24 on the season and 11-9 in America East play, while the Seawolves improve to 41-11 overall, 19-3 in conference play.
