Scarborough, Maine – AAA Energy Service, a provider of HVAC/R and control systems to commercial buildings in New England, recently sent 12 employees through Southern Maine Community College’s (SMCC) Commercial Energy Auditor Course sponsored by Efficiency Maine. The team was led by co owner and senior engineer David Kelley. All attendees learned how to conduct, prepare, and present a commercial energy audit. The course included a comprehensive list of topics and guest speakers on optimizing oil, gas, and propane fired equipment, evaluating best lighting strategies, heating and cooling load reduction, as well as retrofitting older properties.

“Our engineers and technicians are in our customer’s buildings every day whether on a service call or a site build project. Making sure our entire staff is highly trained and in tune with all energy aspects of the property is vital. We strongly support Efficiency Maine and always want to make sure we are following current best practices in ongoing auditing and evaluating to provide peak efficiency and savings to our markets” says Kelley.

Energy audits help commercial building owners and facilities management supervisors with an opportunity to evaluate their existing energy demands across a wide range of a building’s functional areas. Recommendations for changes that often decrease both short and long term costs while minimizing capital expenses and increasing the building’s value as a real estate asset are then submitted for follow up actions.

In related news, AAA Energy is in the process of revising their customer care program to include more touch points with clients to assure optimal service and energy savings in their buildings. “At no added cost or obligation to our customers, we want to increase our level of evaluation, including regular formal and informal audits, to provide our best thinking on a more proactive basis when it comes to controlling energy costs and practicing the efficiency we preach,” adds Kelley.
