YARMOUTH, Maine (February 13, 2012) —In keeping with its plan to use the walls of its new Primary Care facility in Yarmouth to exhibit the work of local artists, Mercy Hospital will host its third exhibition since opening almost a year ago.

The latest exhibition includes a compilation of black and white photography by NYA art teacher, Abbie Sewall, and features several award-winning images by students who attended NYA from 2001 to 2008 and were recognized by the Scholastic Arts & Writing Competition.

Also featured as part of the NYA show, is a series of Xerox transfer prints created by North Yarmouth Academy 9th through 12th grade art students under the direction of Mimi Olins and visiting artist Judith Allen Efstathiou. The range of works was influenced by the students’ visit to the Institute of Contemporary Art in Portland. Each delicate student piece reflects a significant personal memory or a special historical place and is accompanied by a written narrative.

The exhibit will be open to Mercy Yarmouth patients as well as the public during the month of March. An opening reception is scheduled for February 28th from 5:30-7:00 pm at Mercy Yarmouth, 385 U.S. Route One, Yarmouth.

Mercy Yarmouth offers multiple services, including primary care, express care, as well as radiology and lab services to residents in Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, Cumberland, South Freeport, and beyond. The primary care practice is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Express Care is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, seeing anyone in the area who is in need of non-emergency medical attention.
